My love of photography started in college, but things took a turn in Hollywood in 1980 when I took a job managing a small camera store on the sunset strip nextdoor to Hungarian Photographer Martin Szipal (Martin S. Martin as he was known in Hollywood)I began assisting him in both the studio and the darkroom. Martin was the most eccentric person I have ever met, but he was a genius and we some how connected and I learned so much from him.
I am always looking for different ways to approach my art, it's what drives me creatively. I consider portraiture a real art. I strive to create a connection with my subject and when that happens it will be communicated to the viewer. Why so much black and white and so little color?, For me, black and white captures the message that lies beneath the surface of color when it comes to portraits. But I do love to work in color for landscapes and Music photography. I, with my wife who is a painter and illustrator have a line of hand made art cards where we offer our art on blank cards.
